Eco-runner team unveils design Ecorunner XI! – Made @ Holland Composites

During an extensive, entirely corona-proof Zoom meeting with over 300 participants, the Eco-runner team 2021 presented the design of the Ecorunner XI. With this hydrogen-powered city car they will participate in the Shell Eco marathon this summer.

Despite the challenges posed by the Corona conditions, the team decided to go for a completely new design. This design took its literally shape at our factory in Lelystad. In our production halls there is enough space to work safely on the construction of the Ecorunner XI.

The carbon body weighs only 33 kilograms and the aerodynamic drag has been reduced by no less than 47.5% compared to the previous model, the Ecorunner X. When the Ecorunner XI is completely finished, it weighs a total of about 95 kilograms, with an energy consumption of only 3 light bulbs. In the next two months the Ecorunner team will continue to work on the drive technology and the interior. On 22 April the complete car will be unveiled.

Our composite experts supported the students with their knowledge and practical help, and took care of the process around the autoclave and the spraying in the spray cabin. Holland Composites is also always busy with innovative techniques and making our products and production more sustainable. We are therefore very proud that we could contribute in this way to this sustainable project with the engineers of the near future!
