With the realisation of a new sports complex, Lisse municipality has realised an ambitious goal: the design and realisation of an efficient building with a low CO2 footprint and its own identity. Because sports complex Ter Specke serves not only as a ‘collective building’ for a diversity of users and associations, but above all as a future-proof meeting place with social value for Lisse and its region.
The building features photographs of the sports practiced within the accommodation, executed in Raficlad®: the transparent composite cladding by Holland Composites that can be made in many colours.
The building’s position in its surroundings makes it accessible from all directions. The so-called ‘overcorner’ placement of the pictures ensures that the building has a truly all-round appearance.
To emphasise the main entrances, these have been finished in the yellow colour of football club FC Lisse. The all-sided starting point has resulted in a transparent and user-friendly building that is there for all users, where one sport is not more important than another. So it doesn’t matter which sport you come for: all athletes are equal and should feel at home here.
The designers have perfectly merged the social aspects of both sports and buildings in this one special building. In all this, the entrance hall is really the heart of the complex. It is the place where all disciplines connect, both on the ground floor and on the first floor. The large, wide staircase symbolises this connecting factor: it provides space for moving large groups of people and can be used as an indoor tribune.
The wide window areas, both on the inside and outside, enhance the sporting get-together. From the Business Club, there is a 180-degree panoramic view over the main field of football club FC Lisse and visitors have a view of the sports hall. In addition, the incidence of light, combined with the wooden supporting structure, creates a pleasant atmosphere. The relationship with the (football) game is strengthened by the use of the outdoor grandstand.
The end result is a sports meeting place dedicated to S.P.O.R.T.-DNA, which stands for: Together, Fun, Development, Respect and Pride!
