Client: MVRDV Architects
Location: Eindhoven, Netherlands
Year: 2005
Surface: 175 m2
Material: Raficlad
Specifics: 3D moulded parts of Raficlad for the composite stairway of pop stage De Effenaar in Eindhoven.
From 1971 – 2005 the Effenaar was housed in an old linen factory. The already old building has been used so intensively during this period of almost 25 years that it has met less and less the wishes of both the contemporary public and the artists.
Architectural firm MVRDV was chosen because of their (inter) national strong reputation as a visionary agency with numerous innovative projects to its name. MVRDV went to work with the program and the requirements of the Effenaar. The wish was to create an open building with a large hall for 1200 visitors and a small hall and foyer for 400 visitors
Poppodium de Effenaar in Eindhoven is equipped with external staircases, which are covered with Raficlad Unicolor by Holland Composites. Although Raficlad is normally used as facade cladding, these staircases show the versatile application possibilities of composite.
Nice detail: the stairwells are completely enclosed, for which moulded parts have also been made.
Architectural firm MVRDV came up with the clearly visible, deep black stairwells on the outside.
